SAT to ACT Score Conversion Chart (Official Concordance)
Last updated:
To compare SAT and ACT scores, use the official concordance table published by ACT and College Board. For example, an ACT composite of 36 matches an SAT score of 1570 to 1600, an ACT 30 matches an SAT 1360 to 1380, and an ACT 24 matches an SAT 1160 to 1190. Colleges use the same table, so it is the fairest way to see which test gives you the stronger score.

How to use the table to choose a test
- Take one full-length, timed practice test of the Digital SAT and one of the ACT, ideally within the same week.
- Convert your ACT composite to its SAT equivalent using the table above.
- If one score is clearly higher, prepare for that test. If they are close, choose the test whose format and pacing felt more comfortable.
Does the table still apply to the Digital SAT and the enhanced ACT?
Yes. ACT and College Board still publish and use this concordance, and both organizations designed the Digital SAT and the enhanced ACT to keep their score scales comparable with earlier versions. Colleges continue to use this table when comparing applicants who took different tests.
