How to use practice tests well

  • Take the first test early to get a baseline, then build a study plan from it.
  • Take each test in one sitting, timed, in a quiet room.
  • Spend as long reviewing a test as taking it. Write down why you missed each question.
  • Space full tests two to three weeks apart and practise weak skills in between.
  • Save one official test for the final week before your exam.

Frequently asked questions

How many practice tests should I take?

Most students benefit from four to six full-length tests, spread across their preparation, with careful review after each one.

Are Bluebook practice tests accurate?

Yes. They are made by the College Board, use the same adaptive format as the real test, and give the most reliable score prediction.

Are unofficial practice tests worth using?

They can help with extra practice, but question style and difficulty vary. Use official tests to measure your score and unofficial material for drilling skills.
